Maria
M. Cobb
In addition to her significant experience in real estate, business and
commercial law, Maria M. Cobb conducts a general civil practice that
also includes estate planning and administration, maritime finance, and
business transactions.
Cobb joined Rushing & Guice, P.L.L.C. in 1997 and became a
member of the firm in 2002. She now serves as the firm's managing
partner. She also manages the firm's subsidiary title company,
Renaissance Title, L.L.C., which provides loan closings, escrow
services and title commitments and policies.
Cobb was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1994 and the Mississippi Bar
in 1995. She is admitted to practice in various courts, both state and
federal, in Louisiana and Mississippi, including the United States
District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi and the United
States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
A native of Raceland, La., Cobb earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
history from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She received
her Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana
State University in 1994.
In 2008, Cobb was honored as one of Mississippi's 50 Leading Business
Women by the Mississippi Business Journal. The Journal also named her
one of the state's Top 40 under 40 young business leaders in 2007. The
local chapter of the American Business Women's Association honored
Cobb, a two-term president, as its Woman of the Year in 2006.
Cobb is a member of the American Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar
Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, the Biloxi Bar
Association, the Harrison County Bar Association and the Louisiana
State Bar Association. Other memberships include the American Land
Title Association and the Dixie Land Title Association.
